About the Production

School of Rock is a very special show that tells the story of a teacher (whether he knows it or not) and the group of kids whose lives he changes for the better. Presenting the show at a high school made this an interesting challenge. Most productions have the students as late elementary / early middle school age. This production had the students be their own age - high schoolers. At first we had concerns about this, but in the end it ended up being the best decision we could have made. The dynamic shifted and the story had a greater impact on our audiences. It was no longer a touchy feely story about a group of young kids. It was about being heard for who you really are and who you want to be. Without question this production was considered to be one of the best Chippewa Falls High School has ever presented - being one of the first shows in over a decade to not only sell out, but to turn a profit. More importantly, many of the students who worked on this production went on to pursue professional theatre or music careers. Life imitating art.

And yes. Our kids played the instruments live.
